Our Golden Retrievers

While our hearts and roots will always belong to Labradors, we’ve been lucky enough to share our lives with a few special Golden Retrievers—some we own outright, others we co-own with trusted Golden breeders.

Our journey into the world of Goldens started with a good friend convincing us to “just get one.” We fell in love instantly. Then came Hanes—the father of our very first show Golden. Harry and I knew we wanted a son just like him, and his breeder delivered exactly what we wished for. Our friend jokingly told us we had officially crossed over to “the dark side.”

Goldens are both similar to and vastly different from our beloved Labradors. They’ve taught us new things, kept us on our toes, and wiggled their way into our hearts. While we’re not sure exactly what the future holds for us in Goldens, they are part of our extended Foliage family—worthy of their own place here on our page.

That said, we are called Foliage Labradors for a reason.

Achievements and Qualities:
Anchor is just like his father—full of joy, loyalty, and a sparkle of humor in his eyes. At less than 14 months old, he earned his Companion Dog (CD) title with Dave and is now working toward his AKC Championship. He’s loved giving high fives since 8 weeks old and is playful both in and out of the ring. Proudly puffing his chest as if to say, “Look how handsome I am,” Anchor is quite the ladies’ man but also deeply devoted to his dad. Super smart and eager to please, he’s a true joy to be around.

Training and Future Goals:
From the time he was a puppy, Anchor has hopped on the grooming table as if to say, “Do me up, let’s go to a show!” His enthusiasm for learning and performing shines through in everything he does. His current focus is completing his AKC Championship, and we’d love for him to pursue further obedience titles or hunt test titles in the future.

Starting October 2025, Anchor is beginning his hunt test training career with Lois Munroe of Heart & Soul Retrievers. We are excited to see what the future holds for him!

A Joyful Companion:
Anchor loves toys and often tries to carry as many as possible in his mouth—always living life to its fullest. Whether charming the ladies, sticking close to his dad, or showing off in the ring, he approaches life with enthusiasm and heart. He’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter just by being himself.
